My Village..... "Kadakkal"

Kadakkal is a small agricultural town located in Kollam district, Kerala. It is just five kilometres away from MC road. The town is an important business center and is known for its spice production.

Kadakkal is well known for the social revolutionary activities held in the pre-independent period of India. It include Kadakkal revolution (Kadakkal viplavam) lead by Franco Ragavan Pillai. Main agricultural cultivation include rubber, coconut and pepper.

Kadakkal Devi Kshetram comes alive during Thiruvathira festival held in February-March, and is one of the prime festivals of the region. The temple festivities attract large crowds from various parts of the state, which are a ten day program including main festival at Thiruvathira with Eduppukuthira. Kadakkal amma or goddess is considered as a very powerful deity.


Current MLA of Chadayamangalam assembly consistency, Kadakkal is a part of, is Kerala's agricultural minister, Mullakkara Rathnakaran Recent election to parliament select N. Peethampara Kuruppu of UDF. Even though all other part of the kollam constituency move to udf kadakkal and all other part of chadayamngalam stay with LEFT. Town mosque is another important religious place located in the heart of the town. It shares its own boundary with a temple, Madan nada. This itself proves the religious sovereignty of people from Kadakkal.
